Training Requirements
The team has been previously trained and certified by
a law enforcement agency.
OR
The team has been trained and certified by a legitimate
agency or organization, provided copies of training records are available.
OR
The team has been fully trained, then tested and certified
by the United States Police Canine Association.
All previously trained and certified teams will be evaluated
by GSS Canine Trainers prior to use, and will demonstrate basic skills
and ability to locate explosives.
Any new handler will receive a minimum of ten (10) weeks
training with his K-9 partner. This training will be done by Trainers
appointed by the Managing Director of the GSS Canine Division. The team
will then be tested and certified on all odors trained with demonstrating
basic skills and the ability to locate these odors.
Previously trained (experienced) handlers, being partnered
with trained dogs will receive a minimum of four(4) weeks training.The
team will then be tested and certified on all odors trained with, demonstrating
basic skills and the ability to locate these odors.
Any K-9 handlers working within GSS Security will be
responsible for training and work records presented for inspection upon
demand at any training session.
All teams will receive USPCA or USPCA "type" tests
on a regular basis.
All teams will have a minimum of one (1) day In-Service
training a month conducted by a certified Trainer designated by the Managing
Director of the GSS Canine Division.
All teams will be re-certified two (2) times annually
using all odors trained with. This re-certification test will be conducted
by a certified Trainer designated by the Managing Director of the GSS
Canine Division.
Any team missing more than one (1) monthly In-Service
will be taken off line and not used.
Any team missing more than one(1) semi-annual re-certification
will be taken off line and not used.
Any team deemed unsatisfactory at an In-Service session,
or Re-Certification will be taken off line, and not used.
Any team deemed unsatisfactory will remain out of service
and not be used until deemed proficient by the Managing Director of the
GSS Canine Division or a Trainer designated by him.
All handlers will at all times take proper care of their
K-9 partners, and represent GSS professionally at all events or function.
In addition, all of our training is performed at a wide
variety of locations that mirror the conditions of real-life situtational
encounters to ensure optimum performance on actual assignments. Our canines
are also covered by general liability insurance as an added benefit to
our clients.
